Our company with its Albanian consortium partner performed the technical audit of the Tirana Water Supply and Sewerage Utility (UKT) SH.A. The project scope included the technical, technological survey of the existing sewage and drinking water network and treatment plants, and giving proposals for development of the facilities in order to improve security and quality of supply.

Preparation of technical condition assessment and catalogue of measures to improve supply for the drinking water network of the city of Vlora – 2018
Budapest Waterworks staff conducted a technical condition assessment of the drinking water network of the city of Vlora (Albania), which was financed from the funds obtained at a tender from the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for promoting the activity of the Hungarian water industry on foreign markets. After the site survey a technical delegation of the water public utility company of the city of Vlora was received by our company, for whom the technology of leakage management and the general method of decreasing non-revenue water (NRW) was presented at a training course. As a result of the above, a development proposal was prepared for decreasing NRW and improving energy efficiency.

Optimising the operation of the Pogradec waste water treatment plant – 2021

Electronic workforce management system implementation and IT strategy, Implementation and quality assurance of an IT development – 2015
Relying on the expertise of the professionals of Budapest Waterworks, AZERSU Public Limited Company implemented and introduced an electronic workforce management system. In the meantime, the two companies also signed a contract for the implementation and quality assurance of an IT development project as well as for the establishment of the 10-year-long IT strategy of the Azerbaijani state waterworks with the involvement of the Hungarian Water Cluster.

Technical audit of water utility assets in the cities Cienfuegos and Santa Clara and preparation of investment feasibility studies – 2018-2019
The aim of the project was to conduct a technical condition assessment in the cities Cienfuegos and Santa Clara (Cuba) and to prepare a project feasibility study fulfilling the requirements of the International Investment Bank or any other financing institution, to enable the improvement of drinking water supply and sanitation services of Cienfuegos with the involvement of international financing.

36 water treatment units – 2017-2021
The Budapest Waterworks - Artha Envirotarma JO Joint Operation led by Budapest Waterworks won the tender invited by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia for IKK Water Supply Program and Small Water Treatment Plant for Water Scarcity Area. In this project we constructed a total of 36 water treatment plants on four islands of Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Celebes, Flores).

Mitigation of the effects of climate change, improving the efficiency of water supply, energy usage, reconstruction planning and ensuring continuous water supply in the designated areas – Pristina – 2021-2022
We are elaborating technical studies to evaluate the current situation in the areas of pressure management, energy efficiency and non-revenue water, as well as proposals for improvement. These studies cover the energy audit of the drinking water supply system of the city of Pristina, non-revenue water, pressure management, review – and if necessary extension – of the DMAs of the city, as well as local project coordination.

Design works for waste water treatment plant in Vientiane capital – 2018-2019
The development project includes the construction of a sewer network and a sewage treatment plant with 20,000 m3/day capacity. The entire project is implemented by the Hungarian Water Lao Project Consortium under a commercial agreement. According to the consortium agreement, Hungarian Water Engineering Ltd. (a subsidiary of Budapest Waterworks) was responsible for the preparation of a feasibility study for the sewage treatment plant.

The complete technical, economic and business activity of the public service provider was audited under a cooperation agreement with the city of Nizhny Novgorod in Russia. Concluded in the spring of 2006, we summarised our findings, proposals in a catalogue for actions including their priorities, impacts on the life of the company, preconditions and time interval for their performance.

Our Company have completed the elaboration and execution of a programme for supporting capacity building of Subotica Waterworks. Financial and Operational Performance Improvement Programme (FOPIP) – 2019-2020
As the leader of the winning consortium, we elaborated a programme for financial and operational performance improvement for certain fields of Belgrade Waterworks and Sewerage Company (BVK). The project was financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The job included analysis of the customer services, operational activities, financial areas, revenue collection, HR of Belgrade Waterworks, then elaboration of detailed proposals to achieve results, including a specific time schedule and reference values for improving the operational efficiency and financial sustainability of the company.

Reconstruction and extension of Kalatuwawa water treatment plant – 2013-2018
The job included complete reconstruction and capacity upgrade from 71,000 m3/ day to 90,000 m3/day. This water treatment plant supplies Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo and the surrounding area (nearly one million residents) with water. The main purpose of the reconstruction was to upgrade the capacity of the water treatment plant, to modernise the technology and to improve the quality of treated water.

Our Company, with its international and local consortium partners, under a contract concluded with the International Association of Danube Water Supply Companies (IAWD) and the World Bank for ’Professional technical assistance services for business planning and commercial efficiency improvement’ supported a number of water utility companies of the Western Balkans region in the elaboration of business and long-term development plans with focus on customer services, debt collection management and decreasing the rate of non-revenue water.

TURKEY
Fully automated, remote-controlled mobile water purification equipment for the Yayladagi refugee camp – 2016-2017
An up-to-date potable water purification container (Containerized Emergency Water Purification Unit (CEWPU)) developed and manufactured by our company was supplying the Yayladagi refugee camp, accommodating 3,000 people, with drinking water. Potable water supply run in purely automatic operations. After handing over, Budapest Waterworks monitored the system, which smoothly provided several thousand inhabitants of the camp with purified potable water, remotely from Hungary.
