New contract, application

Budapest Waterworks concludes contracts with its users in accord with the applicable legal provisions, and General Terms of Contract, as well as the Business Rules within its area of operation.

Types of Public service contracts, description and detailed rules of contracting are contained in  Section V.1.15.4 of the Business Rules.

Contracting may take place in the following cases:

Transfer of ownership, property sales, change of tenant or operator

Transfer of ownership means registering the change of owner belonging to the given metering point, and – if necessary - carrying out invoice corrections.

What else do I need to know?

As part of the change notification the former user also terminates his public service contract. The termination shall take effect on the date of entry into force of the public service contract with the new user.

Types of Public service contracts, description and detailed rules of conditions of contracting are contained in  Section V.1.15.4. of Business Rules.
 

What shall I do, if only certain details have changed (name, phone number, e-mail/mailing address, etc.)?

If the user remains the same, but the following details change, Budapest Waterworks will enter into a new public service contract with the user upon becoming aware of the change: 
  • name change of non-residential users, 
  • change of water connection, 
  • change in the data of the property entered into the land office register.
In case of other data changes (e.g. mailing address, telephone number, etc.) it is not necessary to conclude a new contract, it is enough to change the register, and the simplest way for this is To report online.

Apartment water meter installation or restart - Auxiliary services contract

The service includes registering the meter for billing, regular reading, bimonthly billing and registering changes.

How do I register for billing, what else do I need to know?

Auxiliary services can be used if the total water consumption of the separate user site (usually a condominium apartment) is measured with an authentic auxiliary water meter or meters and the separate water user (user, owner or tenant) enters into an auxiliary service contract with the service provider, subject to consent of the user (usually the joint representative of the house) belonging to the connection water meter (common main meter of the house), and of the property owner in case of tenement/operation.

Meter for garden irrigation or 10% discount

By using a garden water meter or taking advantage of garden irrigation discount, the cost of a sewage charge can be reduced. One of two types of discount can be selected, so you should check out our comparison table.

How do I get the 10% discount?

The garden irrigation discount that can be applied for watering the home garden can be applied for from the water utility service provider performing the wastewater drainage and treatment for the given supply area. 

In the areas supplied with sewerage service by Budapest Waterworks, residential users may apply for sewerage fee discount for the water quantity used for watering home gardens that do not even partly serve the purpose of goods production in properties not exceeding the size of 2000 square meters. 

The rate of garden irrigation discount is 10%, that will be taken off from the sewage drainage fee during the discount period May 1 – September 30).

How do I apply for a garden meter?

The garden water meter service can be used by the users on the basis of a contract in which the user, the sewage service provider in the case of sewered properties, and Fővárosi Településtisztasági és Környezetvédelmi Kft. (hereinafter: FTSZV Kft.) and Budapest Waterworks in the case of unsewered properties in Budapest contract jointly.

New connection/new public service contract

A precondition for a new water and/or sewage connection on a given property is that the core drinking water network is technically accessible near the property, and its capacity is sufficient to provide the required service, and the technical conditions for the construction of the connection pipe are ensured. 

Description and detailed rules of water service are contained in Chapter V, those of sewage water service are contained in Chapter VIII of the Business Rules. 

Contract termination

The utility service agreement terminates in the following cases:

  • due to the change of the user, the water utility service provider concludes a new utility service agreement at the place of use (Transfer, user change)
  • place of use is or will be terminated
  • Budapest Waterworks terminated the utility service agreement on immediate basis pursuant to Section V.1.16.4 of these Business Rules

Policy Statement application

For providing drinking water and/or sewage water service or firewater service in properties in its area of operation, Budapest Waterworks issues a Policy Statement.

The existence of policy statement is a prerequisite for the issuance of a building permit, as well as for the subsequent installation of a drinking water connection, sewage connection or hydrant.

Approval of plans

A plan approved by our company is required, among other things, for new connections, conversion and expansion of the water and/or sewage network within the property, and for the issuance of an occupancy permit. Technical work can be started after all approvals have been obtained.

Ordering plan approval

The connection plan, which is a prerequisite for the water and wastewater connection, can be prepared by a person with planning permission in the Water Management Planning Department (VZTEL) or the Mechanical Engineering Design Department (G). Our company can also prepare the plan for a fee. A prerequisite for ordering the Connection plan is a valid Service provider’s approval or Policy Statement issued by our company. Occupancy permit

During the construction authority procedure, a permit to use water and/or sewage network issued by the water utility service provider is required for the issuance of occupancy and/or operating permit.
